Privacy Policy
Roleward helps people discover job opportunities, evaluate fit, prepare application materials, and keep their job search organized. This Privacy Policy explains what information Roleward handles, why it is used, and the choices available to you.
1. Who we are
For this policy, "Roleward," "we," and "us" refer to Roleward, an independent product operated by Limin Zheng.
For privacy questions or requests, contact:

zhenglimin.design@gmail.com2. Information we collect
Roleward handles information that you provide, information created while you use the product, and limited technical information needed to operate the service.
Google account information. When you sign in with Google, Roleward receives the basic account information needed to authenticate you and create your account, such as your email address, display name, profile image, and authentication identifiers.
Roleward does not currently request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google Contacts, or other Google Workspace content.
Career information. You may provide CV or resume files, career history, accomplishments, skills, career direction, imported context, preferences, and other information about your professional background.
Job-search information. You may provide or create Search Settings, job descriptions and URLs, saved jobs, notes, application status, application dates, next actions, and other information you use to manage your search.
Generated and edited materials. Roleward may create and store Fit Reports, application angles, tailored resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn connection notes, research results, and other outputs. You may also edit these outputs.
Product preferences. This includes settings such as writing preferences and other configuration you choose to save.
Operational information. Roleward may process information about AI or background runs, timestamps, success or failure states, usage and cost metadata, source references, and other operational information needed to run, secure, debug, and evaluate the reliability of the product.
Technical information. Roleward and its infrastructure providers may automatically process standard request and session information such as IP address, browser or device information, timestamps, authentication cookies, and server logs.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- authenticate you and maintain your account;
- build and maintain your Career Profile;
- discover and organize job opportunities according to your Search Settings;
- analyze job fit using the career and job evidence available to Roleward;
- research companies and roles when you request it;
- prepare application materials when you request them;
- maintain your application history and workflow state;
- operate scheduled scans that you explicitly enable;
- maintain security, prevent abuse, troubleshoot failures, and improve product reliability;
- understand whether product and AI behavior is functioning as intended; and
- respond to support, privacy, or data requests.
Where a legal basis is required, processing may rely on providing the service you request, legitimate interests in operating and securing Roleward, consent where we specifically ask for it, or compliance with applicable legal obligations.
Roleward does not sell your personal information or use it for third-party advertising.
4. AI processing and service providers
Some Roleward features require information to be processed by external service providers.
Current core providers include:
- Supabase, for authentication, database, and file storage infrastructure;
- Anthropic, for AI processing used by features such as career-evidence extraction, analysis, and application-material generation; and
- Tavily, for controlled external search and research used by applicable discovery or research features.
Roleward also relies on hosting and infrastructure providers necessary to operate the web application and backend services.
The information sent to a provider depends on the feature being used. For example, CV extraction requires the relevant CV content, while a Fit Report may require job information and relevant career context. External search providers receive the search information needed to perform the requested search rather than unrestricted access to your Roleward account.
Roleward does not send personal information to these providers for advertising.
Roleward does not train a general-purpose AI model of its own on your personal information. External providers process information under their applicable commercial terms, security practices, and privacy commitments.
Providers and infrastructure may change as the product evolves. This policy will be updated when a material change affects how personal information is handled.
5. Human control and automated processing
Roleward uses AI to interpret information and generate recommendations or materials.
AI output may influence what Roleward shows you, but Roleward does not make employment decisions on behalf of employers and does not automatically submit job applications or send external messages on your behalf.
Fit assessments, search relevance, research, and generated application materials are decision-support tools. You remain responsible for reviewing them and deciding what action to take.
6. How we store and retain information
Account and product data are stored using Roleward's database and storage infrastructure.
Information is generally retained while it remains part of your Roleward account or is needed to provide the service. Where product controls allow you to delete an item or source file, deleting it removes it from the active product data subject to reasonable technical, backup, security, or legal retention requirements.
If there is no self-service control for the data you want removed, you can request deletion using the contact address in this policy.
Operational and security records may be retained for a limited period where reasonably necessary to maintain security, investigate failures, reconcile service usage, or comply with applicable obligations.
External service providers may retain information for limited periods according to their own applicable terms and policies.
Roleward does not keep personal information longer than reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy.
7. Cookies and local storage
Roleward uses cookies or similar browser storage that are necessary for functions such as authentication, session management, security, and interface preferences.
Roleward does not currently use advertising cookies or third-party advertising trackers.
If Roleward later introduces analytics, advertising, or other non-essential tracking that materially changes this position, the relevant disclosure and consent approach must be updated before that tracking is introduced.
8. How information is shared
Roleward may share information:
- with service providers where processing is necessary to operate a feature you use;
- when required to comply with applicable law, legal process, or a valid request from an authority;
- when reasonably necessary to protect the security, rights, or integrity of Roleward or its users; or
- when you explicitly direct or authorize the sharing.
Roleward does not sell personal information.
9. International processing
Roleward is used for a global job search and relies on service providers that may process information in different countries.
This means your information may be transferred to or processed outside the country where you live. Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, Roleward will take reasonable steps to use appropriate providers and safeguards.
10. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights relating to your personal information, including rights to:
- access information held about you;
- correct inaccurate information;
- request deletion;
- request restriction of certain processing;
- object to certain processing;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; or
- request information about how your data is processed or shared.
Many Roleward records can also be reviewed or corrected directly inside the product.

11. Security
Roleward uses technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect account and product data, including authentication, access controls, per-user data isolation, and security controls provided by its infrastructure services.
No online service can guarantee absolute security. If Roleward identifies a material security issue affecting your personal information, it will respond in accordance with applicable obligations.
12. Third-party job sites and links
Roleward may display or link to job postings, company websites, applicant-tracking systems, LinkedIn, or other third-party services.
Those services operate independently from Roleward. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you visit or interact with them.
13. Children
Roleward is intended for adults managing a professional job search and is not designed for children under 18.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to Roleward, contact us so the situation can be reviewed.
14. Changes to this policy
Roleward may update this Privacy Policy as the product, providers, or legal requirements evolve.
Material changes will be reflected by updating this page and its effective date. Where a change materially affects how existing user data is processed, additional notice will be provided where appropriate.
